Article I read in the Toronto Sun today:
CALGARY – More than 30 coyotes have been found dead with their paws cut off 420km southeast of Calgary, prompting fish and wildlife officials to hunt for the person who dumped them.
It’s not illegal to kill coyotes on private land but whoever dumped them on the side of the road could be charged with littering.

Does anyone else find this slightly ridiculous? If these coyotes were found on private land all would be well? There is something terribly wrong with the laws in both the USA and Canada when one can cut off the paws off a coyote for what I assume is no valid reason, and receive no penalty other than littering; whilst a 15 year-old-teenager could smoke a joint and forever be caught up in the system. Maybe my reasoning is skewed?
